Guru Shri Shekhar Tanjorkar is well known for his unique multi-genre and multi-instrumentalist skills who has excelled the best of Indian Classical music. He comes from a family where music has thrived for untraceable generations and his family has been a part prestigious court musicians of those days.

His pro-efficiency in Hindusthani (North Indian) as well as Carnatic (South Indian) Classical is what sets him apart from other musicians. Recently he has created The Seven String Acoustic Viola “SAPTASWARLIN” which took the front page of well known news papers like Mid Day and Hindustan Times.

BIO

Over the course of a distinguished career, Guru Shekhar J. Tanjorkar has rendered invaluable service as a Carnatic violinist, accompanying all major classical and folk dance forms of India, including Bharatanatyam, Odissi, Kuchipudi, Mohiniyattam, Rajasthani folk dance, and Chhau (Seraikela style).

He has had the honour of accompanying eminent gurus and legendary exponents such as Mahaguru Acharya Parvati Kumar, Dr. Sandhya Purecha, Dr. Kanak Rele, Pt. Kelucharan Mohapatra, Padma Shri Pt. Gopal Dubey, Padma Shri Hema Malini, and Dr. Sudha Chandran. He has also had the privilege of performing for the productions of his own brother, Pt. Venugopal Pillai, an esteemed Bharatanatyam Guru.

Beyond his performances, Guru Shekhar J. Tanjorkar has had the privilege of teaching Carnatic violin at the esteemed institution Bhakta Rasika Ranjani Sabha (BRRS), BARC, Anushakti Nagar, for the past 27 years, and at Gana Kala Nilayam for 15 years, nurturing generations of students in the classical tradition.
